Specialized Victim Assistance
Description: 
Have you been sexually assaulted or abused? Are you the victim of violence in relationships? Are you being criminally harassed or stalked? If you answer yes to any of these questions, free confidential support and information are available to you. The Specialized Victim Assistance program, coordinated through the Northern Society for Domestic Peace in Smithers, offers services to people living in the Bulkley Valley or Houston. Whether you choose to report to the RCMP or not, assistance and support are available for women, men, youth and children.

Mens Support, Domestic Violence

Description: 
Northern Society for Domestic Peace provides one-to-one counselling and support to men who are concerned that their behaviours are hurting those they love and want to make changes to improve their relationships.

Women, abuse support, safety plan

Stopping the Violence - Northern Society for Domestic Peace
Description: 
Northern Society for Domestic Peace. Counselling services are available by appointment. Crisis intervention is possible and is arranged as soon as there is a counsellor available.

Housing

Description: 
Second stage housing provides independent, affordable housing for woman and their children who have left an abusive relationship and are re-establishing themselves.

Court and Mental Health troubled Youth Support

Youth Forensic Support Services - Northern Society for Domestic Peace
Description: 
YF provides court ordered and court related assessment and treatment services for troubled youth. This includes general mental health services as well as specialized outpatient treatment for youth with a history of sexual and violent offenses. 

Victim, witnesses to trauma and crime

RCMP Based Victim Services - Northern Society for Domestic Peace
Description: 
Stationed in the RCMP detachment, a trained group of staff and volunteers are available to victims 24 hours/ 7 days a week.  Services include:  24 hour/7 days a week police-based crisis intervention services Support to victims/witnesses of crime and other trauma (for example, families of car accident victims, families of sudden death or suicide, victims of property crime, victims of common assault, etc) Support to youth and families in crisis Community education Support Services Services provided to victims/witnesses of crime and trauma include:  Police-based crisis intervention Inform
